Mother Jones pointed out yesterday that American casualties during war are way down compared to previous wars.
But that ignores the fact that our soldiers are surviving the battlefield, then coming home and committing suicide. More than 18 of them every day, on average. Read more:
Veteran suicides exceed combat deaths: 18 per day
ironic!
ReplyDeletesoldiers manage to survive their tour of duty and then they come home and die from commiting suicide due to a lack of help to deal with ptsd. soldiers are dispensible, citizens are dispensible, corporate profit is not!
As of May 28, 2010, there were 4,404 dead and 31,827 wounded in action from Iraq and over 1700 americans killed in Afganistan.
18deaths/dayx365days=over 6500 soldiers killing themselves each year, its like the US is at war with its own soldiers.
end the wars now, bring them home!
